The vagaries of life brought Georges Wurz, an industrialist and Lancaster pilot in the Second World War, to Monaco. There he met Dr. Eugene Frezzati, a chemist specialized in cosmetics. Inspired by their new beginnings the two men started to plan their future, a future based on luxurious beauty products which would surpass everything ever done before. Then, they founded their company and named it Lancaster.
The two partners decided to build the Lancaster factory in Monaco. Early successes such as Crème Embryonnaire, Serum Tissulaire and le Lait pour les Mains helped to rapidly build up the reputation of the Lancaster Brand. After firmly establishing its position in the French Market, Lancaster spread to other European countries and even as far as Asia and the Middle East.
The principality palace designated Lancaster the “appointed supplier of Her Serene Highness Grace of Monaco”. Extraordinarily innovative for the time, the Ligne Princiere was launched featuring anti-ageing products at the leading edge of research. In 1971 Lancaster took first place under the sun and has remained there ever since. With its complete range of pre-sun, sun protection, after sun, self tan and sun makeup it is still market leader over thirty years on. As a pioneer, Lancaster became the first ever brand to harness the anti-ageing properties of Retinol in a revolutionary skincare range, Suractif.
In 1993 Skin therapy vital Oxygen Supply became the first product to deliver pure oxygen to the skin. In 1998 revealing it’s most glamorous face, Lancaster launched a full makeup range to complete its brand offer. In 2002 Launch of Lancaster’s patented RPF technology in Sun care protection to combat free-radical damage in a highly effective way.
